How to Grill Bacon

Bacon, Grilling -

Our recipe guide for cooking bacon under the grill...

Right, before we get started I should clarify something. When I say grill, I mean cooking something under the grill, not on the grill, or even in the grill. This is one of those strange quirks of language when something happens to mean a different thing depending on where you are situated in the world. When us British cook under the grill, I believe an American would be broiling (please correct me if I am wrong?). Nevertheless, being as I'm British, I'll stubbornly stumble through believing I'm right because that's what I was taught. Now, let's get back to bacon.

I don't mind grilled (cooked under the grill) bacon to be honest. I mean, it's not quite as good as frying, mainly because you don't get a nice greasy pan afterwards to fry your bread in, but that might (health wise) be a good thing. My mother always used to grill the bacon when she made a full English, she used to say it was much healthier because the fat cooks out and drains off, she might have been right. Anyway, lets be honest, whichever way you choose to cook your bacon it's still going to be pretty delicious. It's bacon.

Method

  1. Preheat your grill. I usually like to set mine to medium.
  2. Remove bacon from packaging and arrange your rashers evenly on the rack in the grill pan.
  3. Grill for 5 - 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
  4. If you like it crispy, cook it a bit longer.
  5. Remove from the pan and serve hot.

Oven Baked Bacon

Another option for cooking bacon is to Cook Bacon in The Oven, which is useful if you've got a lot of bacon to cook, or you're maybe looking to create less mess.

Pan Fried Bacon

Another option for cooking bacon is to Cook Bacon in a Frying Pan, which, in my opinion, is the best way to cook bacon.

Serving Suggestion

Serve as part of a full English or on a sandwich.

Please ensure that all products are cooked through and that the centre of the deepest part of the meat is piping hot before serving. Enjoy!
