Suitable for freezing British meat

British or Irish beef picanha steak, expertly cut by our butchers from the rump cap — the prized muscle that sits on top of the rump.

Naturally well marbled with a distinctive layer of edge fat, picanha is known for its rich flavour and tenderness when cooked correctly. It’s a hugely popular cut in Brazil, where it’s prized for grilling and BBQ cooking.

Best cooked hot and fast, this is a standout steak for anyone looking to try something a little different.

Why is it called picanha?

The name is thought to come from the traditional branding iron used on cattle, known as a “pica aña”, which was applied near the rump cap.
