What Is a Bacon Chop?

Bacon , Chop

You've had many a pork chop, and you love a gammon steak, but have you ever had a bacon chop? Do you even know what a bacon chop is? Well, you've come to the right place to find out...

This is one of those questions that we get asked every so often, and it really doesn't take long to answer. I wonder if sometimes, when something seems so obvious, customers assume there must be something much more interesting, or complicated, happening somewhere behind the scenes. Maybe that's sometimes the case, but not today...

Bacon chops, sometimes called bacon steaks, are thick cut chops, which are taken from whole bacon loins. In other words, a bacon chop is basically a super thick cut rasher of bacon. It comes from exactly the same place, and is produced the same way, as the bacon you put on your sandwich, it's just, well, thicker.

Now, if you're thinking "what's the point if it's just bacon, but thicker?" you obviously haven't considered the idea fully. Yes, bacon chops make a great substitute for a gammon steak, with egg, or pineapple (if you're that way inclined), but let's take it a little further and think outside the box... The real beauty of a bacon chop is on a cooked breakfast; Swap your rashers of bacon for a nice thick bacon chop and you've suddenly taken your fry up to the next level.
